Marc Reader
General Manager, Huvafen Fushi Maldives
A dynamic and enthusiastic individual, Marc joins us with 27 years of hospitality industry experience to his name. Marc, an Australian, began his career as a Chef, working his way through some of Australia's top restaurants. In 1985, he went solo and opened his own restaurant, Haskins Garden Restaurant which went on to be one of Perth's infamous restaurants. After 10 years of running Haskins, Marc decided to sell and took up an offer to move to the UK to become General Manager at the Mash & Air Brewery in Manchester, a Mark Newson design and owned by Oliver Peyton. Coming back to his home country, Marc joined the ever fabulous lifestyle store 'Georges' as Director of Food & Beverage. Finally, after three years there, Marc found his next journey leading him to an absolutely amazing property in Australia, The Mansion Hotel at Werribee Park. For the next seven years, Marc was Executive General Manager at this 5 star contemporary boutique hotel and it was during his reign, The Mansion Hotel was awarded Australia's finest, independent and most acclaimed boutique hotel brand in Australia and also won a coveted spot in Conde Nast Traveler 2002 Top 20 Stays. At Huvafen Fushi, Marc injects a breath of fresh air, an enthusiastic personality and certainly a passion to enhance the already magnificent foundation of Huvafen Fushi.

Shaun Dünhofen
Rooms Division Manager
As Rooms Division Manager for Huvafen Fushi, Shaun plays a key role in front-end operations, overseeing the Front Office, Housekeeping and Transport departments. Passionate about personalised service, paying particular attention to detail, Shaun works very closely with the team to ensure that our award winning service continues to captivate the imagination and exceed expectations of all guests, and that they depart with lifelong memories of their experiences at the resort.
Originally from South Africa, he completed his Diploma in Hospitality Management in Cape Town, before joining boutique hotel management company Aman resorts. He spent highly successful years with Aman resorts, holding a range of managerial positions at Amanusa and Amanjiwo in Indonesia, and at Aman-i-Khas in India. This experience gave him the opportunity to work across a number of countries and cultures, while sharpening expertise in both hotel operations and guest relations. Before joining Huvafen Fushi, Shaun was Manager at The Manor, a hotel managed by Aman resorts.

Joseph Alex Nagy
Executive Chef
Joseph joins Huvafen Fushi with over 15 years of culinary and hospitality skills. A highly motivated, imaginative and entrepreneurial individual, he demonstrates great culinary expertise; creates innovative menus; leads and inspires staff. With a background in 5 star hotels, Joseph has in recent years worked in famed properties such as the award winning Turtle Island Resort, Fiji and the famed Jordons Seafood Restaurant in Sydney. Joseph will indeed take Huvafen Fushi's food and beverage experience the next notch up.

Abdulla Nabeel
Sales and Marketing Manager
Nabeel joined Huvafen Fushi as Assistant Business Development Manager after 8 years of industry experience. A Maldivian national, Nabeel will be assisting the Business Development Manager in planning and developing business strategies for Huvafen Fushi.
Prior to joining Huvafen Fushi, Nabeel gained hospitality experience in several roles with top five star resorts in the Maldives where he held positions in Reservations & Revenue Management to Sales & Marketing at the award winning Soneva Resorts.
In 1998 after completing higher secondary education followed by courses in hospitality management at the Faculty of Hospitality & Tourism Studies Maldives, he also successfully completed a distance learning diploma course on Hotel Operations & Management from Cambridge International College, UK.
With this new position and Nabeel's natural ability to win people's heart, Huvafen Fushi will certainly be looking at a lot of room nights being secured!

Angeline Leo
Public Relations & Events Manager
Angeline joins us after 7 years in the hotel industry. Coming from a strong food and beverage background, she began her career in 1999 at the Westin Stamford Westin Plaza, Singapore. In 2001, Raffles International took over the property management which then saw the re-branding from a Westin to a Raffles. With this was a promotion to Equinox By Raffles International, a groundbreaking five in one food & beverage concept located on the 70th floor of the hotel, she was an integral part of its pre-opening team. After a year, and another promotion to Senior Team Leader at Jaan in Equinox, a modern French restaurant where she led the pioneer team in the first all girl French fine dining restaurant in Asia.
After five years in the very cosmopolitan city of Singapore, Angeline decided to hit her home town, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where she joined the award winning Hilton Kuala Lumpur as part of the pre-opening team in August 2004. As Senior Information Agent, she oversaw the day to day operations of guests to Studio, the epic centre of food & beverage at the Hilton. A seven in one concept of 5 restaurants and 2 bars, she managed all guest relations, VIP's and events in Studio. After 5 years in operations, Angeline was offered the position of Public Relations Executive in charge of food and beverage and was transferred to Business Development.
In her new role, Angeline managed all PR and events related activities. She sought out new talents, sponsorships, new angles to publicize events and together with the rest of the team managed the incredibly huge success of James Brown LIVE at Hilton Kuala Lumpur for its 1st year anniversary, DJ's Jose Padilla from the Café Del Mar fame, Stephané Pompougnac from the highly acclaimed Hotel Costes albums, the Buena Vista Social Club, Queen - It's a Kinda Magic!, two British Theatre Playhouse and more. Now, at Huvafen Fushi, Angeline brings with her, her incredible enthusiasm and energy towards the world of PR and events, strong media relationship and a vision to make a difference.

Fathimath Shaazleen
Front Office Manager
A Maldivian national, Shaaz, is in charge of all Front Office operations of Huvafen Fushi including guest arrival, guest departure, Huvafen journeys and activities. Her team of Thakurus or Maldivian Butlers ensures that all guest needs are met and exceeded.
Shaaz started her career within the tourism industry over seven years ago, after receiving her advanced diploma from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Studies in the Maldives. Her most recent posting was in one of the top five star resorts in the Maldives, where she played an integral role in the introduction of their butler service. This knowledge and experience ensures the smooth operation of Front Office and the ultimate in guest experiences.

Aminath Shaly
Human Resources Manager
As Human Resources Manager, Shaly is in charge of attracting, developing and retaining the young, passionate and dynamic team that Huvafen Fushi is known for. In her role, she also assists in creating a work environment that allows each one of our team members to live the Per Aquum philosophy of 'Making A Difference' in their every day life, work and personal. A Maldivian national, Shaly herself is a model example of Per Aquum's dedication to responsible development of tourism; one of Shaly's and Huvafen Fushi's vision is to achieve the highest Maldivian to expatriate ratio for our team.
Over the last 6 years, Shaly has worked her way up in different Human Resources positions. Prior to joining Huvafen Fushi, Shaly's most recent position was heading up the Human Resources team of One&Only Kanuhura, Maldives.

Abdulla Aboobakur
Assistant Food and Beverage Operations Manager
Abdulla Aboobakur, joins Huvafen Fushi's dynamic Food & Beverage team as Food & Beverage Co-ordinator. Overseeing three restaurants and one bar along with the destination dining and special events on the island, Abdulla brings forth a level of passion and team spirit like no other.
A Maldivian national, Abdulla comes highly qualified with a Degree in Hospitality Management In Operations from Willian Angilise College in Melbourne Australia. Returning to the Maldives in 1999, Abdulla started his career with Hilton Maldives Rangali and Spa. A highly motivated and dedicated individual, he continued to excel and completed 16 courses from the Hilton University Online program.
Looking forward to a great 2007 with Huvafen Fushi, we look to Abdulla's inspiration!

Ulrike Kloiber
Marine Biologist
As a Marine Biologist, Ulrike takes on the responsibility of caring for the marine life at Huvafen Fushi. Ulrike graduated in Biology with a focus in Zoology and Marine Biology at the University of Vienna, Austria. Her research interests encompassed symbiotic associations (between corals and algae) and coral reef ecology. First time to the Maldives, Ulrike has familiarised herself with the local marine life and leads the house reef education activities for guests and our team members. With extreme enthusiasm and passion, she is guiding snorkeling tours, gives presentations on the beauty and diversity of the Maldives and coral reefs and ensures regular visits to the underwater spa. Her greatest personal involvement is currently in the newly launched Coral Nursery and Reef Rehabilitation Project and the long-term monitoring program of the house reef. Ulrike works very closely with Mr. Steven Lindsay, a Marine Consultant to URS Australia www.urscorp.com and Dr Robert Hilliard, Principal Marine Environmental Scientist of URS and will be encouraging the formation of Huvafen Fushi's "Green Team", comprising passionate individuals who share a keen interest in protecting and enhancing the local environment. In future, Ulrike is looking forward to setting up a Marine Station on Huvafen Fushi which will play an important role in future environmental projects.
